What Is Concho Dash?
Concho is a small unincorporated community in the Arizona high country — roughly 6,000 feet up in Apache County, surrounded by juniper grasslands and open range. There's no Uber here, no DoorDash, no grocery delivery. The nearest big-box store is a real drive away, and for a lot of our neighbors — elderly residents, people without a second vehicle, families living off-grid — getting a ride, picking up groceries, or hauling water isn't a minor inconvenience. It's a daily logistics problem.
Concho Dash started as a simple idea: what if neighbors could help neighbors, and get paid a fair donation for their time, without needing an app, a gig-work account, or a smartphone plan built for it? Everything on this site runs by text message. You send a request — a ride, a grocery run, a repair, a home-cooked meal — and a real person from the community responds. No algorithm, no surge pricing, no corporate cut. Just a phone number and a neighbor willing to help.
We call it a donation model because that's genuinely what it is — you're not paying a company for a service, you're compensating a resident directly for their time, gas, and effort. A small membership and advertising fee is what keeps the site itself running: the phone number staffed, the directory updated, the community board moderated. Everything else goes to the person who actually showed up to help you.
Beyond the day-to-day errands, we've built out a growing set of local resources: a High Desert Pros directory for finding well drillers, septic services, and solar installers; a Field Guide of practical off-grid living articles written specifically for our elevation and climate; a Land Watch service for absentee landowners; and a community board where neighbors can post land for sale, classifieds, and local meetups. It's a small operation — run out of Concho, by people who live here — but it's built to actually solve the problems that come with living somewhere this remote.
